Updated: May 22, 2021

Thy Kingdom Come!

Updated on May 1, 2020

On May 1, 2020 we received official approval from the TDC for the request to govern our locality with a Local College.

Tawnya Stanus has stepped down after many years of serving the locality as Secretary to the Local Committee. We welcome Sonja Dalle Ave as the Local College’s new Secretary. Thank you Tawnya for your generous witness over the years, and thank you Sonja for your generous ‘yes’ to serve the locality in this role.

Greetings to all Regnum Christi members in the Ontario locality!

I hope this letter finds you in great spirits as we prepare to enter Holy Week and give ourselves daily to Our Lord for His Kingdom. I am so grateful for your constant example and generosity to serve the Church, giving hope to a world that so needs it. With this in mind, I would like to share some news with you.

The Ontario Regnum Christi Locality governance will be transitioning from having a Local Director, with a counsel and leadership committee to a new College governance structure.

The members of the College are Fr. Michael Vanderbeek, LC, Fr. Jerek Scherber, LC, Alicia Cestra, Maria Luisa Gamez, Francisco Gamez, Oscar Strassburger and Fr. Louis de Vaugelas, as College Chair. The College structure and the members of the College were recommended by the Ontario Regnum Christi Local Committee (RCLC) and have been recently given verbal approval by the Territorial Directive College (TDC). Since the TDC only recently named new members, official written approval is pending. We will update you when we receive this approval when the local college will operate in an official capacity.

March 31st marked the end of my term as the Ontario Regnum Christi Director (RCD). The TDC initiated a consultation process to assist in identifying candidates to fill the role of RCD for Ontario. Our team leaders participated in the consultation process and responded to the survey questions. The Territory collated the results of the survey and provided me with an aggregated summary.  I then had follow-up conversations with several prospective candidates, but the results were inconclusive.

As many of you recall, last fall, the new statutes for the Regnum Christi Federation were approved and the Interim Regulations for the North American Territory of the Regnum Christi Federation were distributed. These documents discussed two alternative governance structure options – an RCD with a council or a local college.

Following discussions in the Locality and with others at the Territorial level, the RCLC recommended to the TDC the college structure for Ontario with the above mentioned members, – Fr. Michael, Superior of LC community, Fr. Jerek, ECYD Boys Director,  Maria Luisa, ECYD Girls Director, Alicia Cestra, the current women’s section director, Francisco Gamez, the current men’s section director and Oscar Strassburger as Resource Coordinator. Fr. Louis de Vaugelas is the Chairperson. Tawnya Stanus agreed to support the College as secretary, until a replacement is found. Pray for all of us during this time of transition as the new College is now operational and the previous local committee has been dissolved.

Thank you for your patience, support, trust and especially your prayers during my time of serving you as your Local Director. It was a great learning experience for me, challenging at times, and always humbling. I am happy to be of service to the locality and look forward to continuing to support the College members, and all of you as local event administrator.

The College exists to facilitate an atmosphere of synergy, communication and dynamism. I am certain the college members look forward to working with every member of RC. Welcoming any counsels, help or ideas from all of you to make this happen. Let us all entrust our locality, our holiness, and the fruits in the mission to the hands of Our Lady.

In Christ,

Tima Borges
